Clear Vision for a Lifetime

Teenagers to Young Adults (18-39 years)

Teenagers to Young Adults

Most refractive errors stabilize in the late teens to early twenties, making this a great time of life for refractive surgery to achieve permanent vision correction for conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. At this stage or your life you are probably very active, whether in sports, hobbies, work, school or parenthood, and the bother of glasses or contact lenses becomes a real burden. Patients who have permanent vision correction at this time usually have an excellent result and are thrilled to be able to throw away their glasses and contacts and see clearly and naturally. Imagine being able to swim, run, play sports, drive, see TV and the computer screen (not to mention the clock when you wake up in the morning) without glasses that fog up, slip down on your nose or, worse yet, get lost or broken!

This is also the best time of life for refractive surgery from an economic perspective, since the lifetime cost savings is significant compared with years of glasses and contact lenses.

How do I know if permanent vision correction is right for me?
A free, technical eye exam at Virginia Beach Eye Center will determine if you are a good candidate for permanent vision correction. If so, we will perform a comprehensive vision analysis together with a detailed discussion with one of our surgeons about your treatment options. Very likely, one of the latest refractive surgical procedures: NuSite™ Advanced Surface Ablation, Lasik, or Visian ICL™ will be suitable to provide you with clear vision for many years to come. If you have had a stable prescription for at least two years, contact us to set up an appointment.
